Consumer Electronics - Rapid Growth Expected for Japanese HD Video Camera Market

In 2005 Sony expects high definition video cameras to account for approximately 7% of the Japanese domestic market for video cameras, and forecasts that HD share will grow to 25% in 2006. Sony currently estimates that total video camera shipments in 2005 will remain on par with levels in 2004, at 1.6 million units and about 125 billion Yen (US$1.1 billion; US$1=107.7 Yen) in value.
